Mashed Potatoes? You're Doing it Wrong
I don't agree with all that liquid and I use a zig zag style masher instead of a ricer, but the information about which type of potato to use and how to cook them is spot on. http://tinyurl.com/ylzfm8t or 145 characters worth http://www.chow.com/videos/show/all/...ith-margo-true They have a video on how to make matzo balls too. -- I love cooking with wine. Sometimes I even put it in the food. |

Maybe... maybe not. Both versions go back to Shakespeare and mean the same thing. Here is a nice dicussion: <http://www.worldwidewords.org/qa/qa-bal2.htm>. In The OED, 1991 edition, "bold-faced" may mean "impudent", but there is no such meaning attached to "bald-faced". In the present case, both meanings, plus "bare-faced", are most appropriate, as they all indicate an unconcealed, childish attempt to lie. A whiny girl discovered that a favourite stolen toy does not belong to her at all and is now crying "I've been using it for years. I coded it from a picture myself." The old fool in this case is very obviously you. Whatever is left of your sclerotic brain cannot figure out that it is *basic honesty* to be concerned about here, not a fairly unimportant x-face. You obviously have a problem with honesty but not with dishonesty, or else you would not come to the "defence" of a proven liar. How many times have *you* lied today? How about yesterday? Was it on rfc or mostly elsewhere? Since you can only eat already chewed-up food: This x-face of mine is of little importance by itself, but fact is - which has been proven - I created it. Now, someone suddenly starts using it - no great problem in itself. I state the facts and - in the Christmas spirit, even offer the "lady" another cat x-face of mine - and what do I get in return? Not even an acknowledgement but a *bold-faced lie* - right in my face, x- or otherwise. > I know you're old, but it's also time you grew > up! No you do not. You know nothing about my age or anything about myself at all, still less about honesty. You are just a superannuated busybody meddling in other people's affairs. Oh, I see it now! This all was only to call attention to your own stolen x-face (not mine, but Ace's, in this case), right? Are you now going to claim you created it? Victor |

So, are you are now confirming that you have "stolen" (or "borrowed", if you prefer) my x-face just recently? By 2005, it had even been displayed - and properly attributed - on Ace's Web site for at least three or four years. I created that x-face in 1997 (!) - and posted the links to prove it. As I already told you, you likely weren't aware of Usenet, let alone of x-faces existence in 1997. I know you cannot tell me just *how* you supposedly "created" that x-face, nor name a newsreader which could display it in 1997. When did you start to post on Usenet at all? This Diabolical Cat (TM) was my very first x-face and I remember everything about how I made it and what exactly I used to make it - I spent hours tweaking it, since I had no experience with x-faces at all. I still have dozens of versions. I have made many more x-faces since, some much better-looking, technically, but this was my first one and is still my favourite, witnessed by my almost constant use of it for *twelve* years. Why do I even bother to mention all of this? Because I know exactly what I am talking about, but I also realise that people (read *you*) may perhaps forget where they got something relatively unimportant, like an x-face. In this case, though, it is obviously not just case of forgetfulness on your part. An x-face, any x-face, is virtually impossible to reproduce exactly even by using the same picture, as a single different pixel will result in a different code. In you case, even this theoretical possibility is out - because the picture I used has been tweaked - by myself - about a hundred times - and I never posted it anywhere. So, why the lie? Victor |

Because its creator has explained that it is not yours to use without his consent? > I have much more important things to remember than a stupid image. > And, no, I'm not going to stop using it. Why not? He's explained that it is his creation. He's explained that using someone else's x-face creation is a no-no. He pointed you to some links that would show you how to make your own, help you to make your own. He offered you a different cat of his own creation. So why would you deliberately use what you've been asked not to use? Just to be contentious? Ouch. -- -Barb, Mother Superior, HOSSSPoJ http://web.me.com/barbschaller 12/20/2009 |

I do like the "cute" category, too. :)) Thank you! The reason I liked the skinny black cat is because the year my son died, I took in a small emaciated black cat that I named Bonnie. She was a feral that found her way into my trap that I put out to catch, neuter and release a ton of strays that are in my neighborhood. Bonnie was just too small to release and so I kept her. She never seemed to mind that, and never even tries to go out anymore. She's found her home. |
