Default What can you cook in 5 minutes ?

I have not much time a day, so I usually eat food that is not cooked.

But what can you cook when you have only 5 minutes left ?

Quesadillas -

Little oil in the pan, a flour tortilla, throw on some shredded cheese, a
sprinkle of chopped scallion, a squirt of lime, fold, and flip. You can
add leftover chicken or beans or any other vegetables if you have them.
Only takes a few minutes....

Or...

No frills salmon patties!

Can of salmon mashed with some bread, a dollop of dijon, and an egg - A big
can will make about four patties (make them on the thin side) and they
should only take about 4 minutes total to fry in a little oil.

You can preheat the pan and oil while you're opening the can, draining the
salmon, and picking out any bits that you don't want (I take out the round
spiney bones but leave the little straight ones in to mash)

You can eat the patties with tartar sauce, hot sauce, bbq sauce, mustard,
mayo, just about anything!

Five minutes isn't a lot of time. Maybe you can squeeze a few more minutes
out of your day at night or whenever, and make some stuff in advance to eat
during the week - even some pasta that you store in the fridge and then
heat up with olive oil and grated cheese, or make a pot of rice (20
minutes!) and then use it to make quick meals of rice and beans & cheese.
Or a meatloaf that you can slice and then eat either cold, or heated in the
microwave...

For me, five minutes to eat means grabbing something leftover, but that
system assumes there's something leftover to grab!

Assuming NOT usuing a nuker:
BLT-if you plan ahead.
Grilled cheese (w/tomatoe if you are adventureous)
Soup-if made ahead of time.
Salad-if you don't make your own dressing. Seven minutes if you do.
Fried eggs w/toast if you can make both at the same time.
Asstd veggies in a wok-again if you plan ahead.
Want more?

If you are willing to double the time, there is a book by Edouard de
Pomiane I recommend highly. It's called just that, 'Cooking in Ten
Minutes". I notice it's $8 on Amazon right now.

But if I wish to just cook in 5 minutes, will they halve the price?

" I wish...5 minutes...halve the price?"

Alan Zelt, who hasn't denied that this is in fact an indecent proposal
made to a plainclothes officer, and not just a badly cobbled together

I'm counting the minutes until Google blocks me again. I've gone mad.
Come on November.

Sorry, Alan. Please, everyone, realize that was a joke and that I have
no reason to suggest Alan solicits anything illegal.

I suggest you devote more time to cooking unless you
want to live on scrambled eggs and toast. Food isn't
only to satisfy hunger, but to promote good health,
to socialize, to relax. Five minutes won't cut it
unless you LIKE McDonald's.
