on the contrary - cantaloupe without pepper isn't worth eating. on

I'm with the good Widow and your father. Salt and pepper on canteloupe;
salt on grapefruit or watermelon.

(Shrimp and canteloupe are good together, too.)

Have you tried it? While I prefer my watermelon plain, the fresh ground
pepper is an interesting flavor combination. You get a real blast of pure
pepper flavor. Try some in a salad or as a side on your dinner plate.

I use Tony Cacheres on my cantaloupe and mango.

My father, who is not at all young, said a big treat in his family when he
was a kid was a spoon of sugar with pepper on it. Both were rare back
then.

I'll be ok, then. I don't salt potato chips, but I do salt the fries
at McDonald's. (Not that I've been there more than a handful of times
in the last 20 years.)

My friend F R E D Fred would salt pizza. He said he didn't care if
he died. I bet he cared when he wasn't able to eat the last few
years of his life and was in a hospital bed. My poor Fred.

Don't feel deprived... the vast majority of those you heard it from haven't
tried the combo either... in fact 99% had melon but only 1% ever actually been
in the same room with prosciutto... the only prosciutto ever been in their
mouths is the sound of word as it rolled off their tongues, all those who said
to cook it. Makes as much sense to cook prosciutto as it does to cook
honeydew.
