I've been watching it grow for years.

I am always watching my weight. I am a firm believer that watching cooking
shows and talking about food makes me/us snack and/or eat more.
I am curious if you feel the same? Do you watch your weight ? And to what
degree : Always, Sometimes, or Almost Never.

peace,
Barbara

I do watch my weight. I watch it and watch it. Sad ain't it.

Default Watching Our Weight

Cooking at home is much better for me than eating out. At home I'm far
more likely to eat small portions of exquisitely prepared food. When
eating out, I'm likely to eat too much. Since watching cooking shows
and talking about food promotes eating at home, it is better for me all
round.

I try hard not to watch my weight though I have in the past. I guess
that means I should circle 'almost never.' I'm a lot healthier when I
exercise a lot and eat nearly everything I want. ('Nearly' everything
because I do make a concerted effort to eat more vegetables, especially
leafy green ones and those in the cabbage family, but otherwise I try to
let my appetite control the amount I eat, and I don't overeat.)

It's been off the scope for years. I care about health indicators that
really matter to me. My blood glucose levels, cholesterol, blood
pressure... those are the things that count.

Six of one; half-dozen of the other. Food as Fuel types can be pretty
happy with the same bowl of cereal for breakfast, salad/sandwich for
lunch, and a choice from 3 flavors of m'wave "dinners" in the evening,
while those watching FoodTV with a vast collection of cookbooks for
reference *should* be able to devise more interesting solutions to
weight-control. OTOH, one can't deny that constantly fiddling around
with and looking at nifty food presentations can easily lead to
creeping avoirdupois. My own downfall is The Exception -- just a
*little* bit of cream here, a spoonful of cheese, a slice, well 2, of
bacon, gotta use the bread before it molds, artichokes were on sale
and irresistable and what's an artichoke without butter?, etc., etc.

Oh , I have seen some of your recipes. Although some are labor intensive I
am sure anyone would be happy to be a guest at your table ;-)

lol, yeah a "little bit of this and a little bit of that" I am very guilty
of that. I love my butter and sauces ( and candy ). I am a snacker , that is
probably my downfall .;-)

I watch my weight, a job that would be more rewarding if I watched
what I eat!

Food shows, cookbooks, and talking about food don't influence me.

Actually, I find that they kinda cure me of cravings. I don't know why that
is...but when I'm craving sweets, I will watch something like Unwrapped, and
by the time it's done, I'm all right, no need to indulge.

Watching cooking shows and talking about food doesn't normally make me
want to eat more. The cooking shows on PBS, which are the only ones I
can watch, typically feature food that is too expensive for me. When the
food isn't so expensive (such as Rick Bayless's offerings) prep is too
involved for me for daily use. Makes it easy LOL!

Right now, just watch my weight sometimes. If I can't get out and
exercise, then I need to pay attention to what I'm eating. Otherwise I
don't bother.

It usually wants me want to eat *better*, or can sometimes even sate me !
At University, when we were poor & starving, we used to nick copies of
Gourmet Traveller from the nearby med. clinic, and fill up on reading
mouthwatering recipes. You could almost taste them

Precisely! Eating well has absolutely nothing to do with quantity.
