For a quick heat and serve meal addition, which canned brand of
candied sweet potatoes are best?

Thanks,
Mark

Our standby for decades has been Bruce's canned 'yams.' They
have a good full flavor, a bit sweet but tasty. They are far more
consistent than supermarket sweet potatoes, and once you get
accustomed to their flavor profile you can do a lot with them.

Canned sweet potatoes are pretty much all the same - YOU do the candy
thing, they don't come that way that I know of.

Empty the canned sweet potatoes or yams into a greased shallow loaf
pan - single layer or so - sprinkle all over with brown sugar and then
put some pats of butter here and there. Bake at 350 until hot (about
20-30 minutes). OR, put some pats of butter on them and drizzle maple
syrup all over - same baking instructions. OR, sprinkle them with
brown sugar, butter and put big marshmallows (cut in half
horizontally) over the top - don't cover the vegetables entirely,
leave some space in between - same baking instructions.

Yum Yams.

I just had a baked sweet potato with butter and brown sugar all mashed into
it while it as hot. A little salt added after the butter, a little sour
cream on the side. It was amazing.

But was your baked sweet potato 'canned' prior to baking?

Next time I am in the store, I will look at the canned yams. We used to
have Trappey's and Bruce's, plus the store brands. I have not found
Trappey's yams in a while, but I have seen their vegetables and beans on
the shelf.
