Default Just back from the market

I love this time of year!

The first sweetcorn of the year was in our market this morning, so I got
some along with a lovely avocado. The sweetcorn is slightly green, so I
believe I will cut it off the cob and cook it in butter with a touch of lime
zest. The avocado will be cut into chunks and put on top of the sweetcorn,
then a couple deep-fried whole pomfrets will be placed on top. The dish will
be finished with a hot roasted-capsicum vinaigrette.

The starter will be a bruschetta with garlic-oil-brushed grilled zucchini
blossoms. It will be followed by a salad with tomatoes, watercress, and
cucumber, which will be dressed with a creamy garlic dressing. Weather is
fair and a bit on the too-warm side, so I might make a chilled
asparagus-lettuce soup.

The side dishes will be steamed artichokes with a verjus butter and choko
with bacon and grilled prawns.

There were nice lychees and strawberries at the market, so we will finish
with a compote of those two fruits in Moscato d'Asti.

What will we drink? That's my husband's puzzle to solve!

Peter, did the Waverly Local Court acquit you of the assault charges?
