I hope this is clear for everyone.

From Allan:

This is my response to Christy's sister. It should cover everything.
==========================

Christy's Sister:

'Hi Everyone. . .just got off the phone with Chris' nurse (Mary). I
think we have to prepare ourselves for the ups and downs of this. I
wasn't as encouraged today by the report, but it just reminded me of how
sick and
critical Chris is. No major changes except that the nurse said that
Chris was quite agitated and restless (not sure if that started
yesterday or today), so they gave her something called Atavan(?) which
worked, but it also made her quite lethargic, so they were not able to
do any physical or occupational therapy yesterday or today.

Her blood pressure has also gone up (sorry Allan, I did not get any
numbers. . .that's your job!) so they have
applied a patch which will help regulate. Her sodium level is up. . .not
sure if that has been up all along or if this is something new.
Potassium remains low so they are adding that through her feeding tube,
I believe'.

Allan's response to Christy's Sister:

It's Ativan - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lorazepam
She was restless because they were moving her from ICU to a stepdown
room on the 2nd floor. They gave it to her at 6 a.m. and when I got
there at about 9:30 she was still out.

She woke up just before 11:00 but could barely speak and didn't know
much about where she was or who anybody around her was. She woke up
because the physical therapy person was in there working her over and
another nurse came in and gave her her breathing treatment at the same
time.

Christy's Sister:

'I asked if there was anyway Chris would be switched to another floor
soon and she said 'she isn't going anywhere'. So the constant care is
very much needed since things can still change in a moment's notice for
Chris.

I was able to talk 'to' Chris. . .she couldn't say much and what she
said was barely audible. I was a little shocked in the difference from
Tuesday. I know the phone is by no means an accurate measure. We will
have to rely on you, Allan for a proper analysis on her ability to
communicate and her 'awareness'.

Allan's response to Christy's sister:

The attention level in ICU was much better. Alarms could go off today on
either the IV pump or the main monitor for 20 minutes without a response
from anyone.

One nurse came in and filled the bag connected to her feeding tube. I
later noticed that she had neglected to turn the pump on.

When I left, she was becoming more coherent, but still not quite on
track. Hopefully she'll be better tomorrow

Christy's sister:

'I am sure that mom, dad and Dave are feeling the same way I am. .
..after being there and seeing any positive change at all and now just
going off of what the nurse says. . . it's really hard. I am feeling a
bit lost and helpless. Allan we really need your comments on what you
see. . .you are the only other person that knows Chris so well. If you
could give us a little news from your visit today. . .just 'reply all'
to this message'.

Allan's response to Christy's sister:

A final note on the BP. The numbers were good as far back as I could see
on the monitor (6@30 minute intervals) with the exception of one spike
at the earliest check and another as they were manhandling her with PT
..
The nurse said it was nothing to worry about and she raised the limits
for the alarm on the monitor.

I got a smile, I got a laugh, I got a scowl. The full gamut of her
attitude. The doctor said she's holding her own. He also said the
delusions are part of liver problems. Didn't make any sense to me, but
that's why I'm not a doctor.
