If my water supply wasn't so over-chlorinated I'd use the icemaker. As it is,
the cubes would ruin the flavor of any drinks.

Get an RO filter and feed the ice maker from that supply. Only $150 or
so and an afternoon of installation.

On one move my husband was picking out the house since it was a long
distance military mover. He called and asked me if I wanted a self
cleaning oven. I was about 8 months pregnant and had just spent 2
days cleaning the oven. I think I said something like I would kill
him if it wasn't. I have had one everywhere I have lived since.

Hmmm, I have a Cuisinaryt food processor that is going on 30 years old and
still works fine... can't imagine the problem. I had a different brand

Whar Id like would be TWO dishwashers, side by side. The reason is, I
HATE UNloading the dishwasher. But if I had TWO, I could take clean
dishes right from one and use them...then rinse and put them in the
OTHER one....then when that one was full, run the dishwwasher and VOILA!
Now THAT one would be clean dishes....use them and put the dirties into
the FIRST one. No need for putting them in the cabinet, at all!

Id also like one of those HUGE islands with a gas cook top and a BIG
vent over it....oooooh...and a trash compactor...

What Id MOST like would be to have enough money to pay somebody to come
in twice a week and clean my house, tho.

I HATE house work. It puts me in a bad mood because I hate it so much.
Especially mopping floors. Since I hate it SO much, I put it off...and
finally it gets so bad I HAVE to scrub them....ghastly.

A Roomba would scare the hell out of my cat! The regular vacuum cleaner is
bad enough, but something that wanders around all by itself? She'd never
come out from under the bed. (Hmmm, I wonder if the Roomba would go under
the bed?!)

A kitchen extension, then a kitchen aide mixer, a dishwasher, a large side
by side fridge freezer, a new range cooker.....
My kitchen was in the house when we bought it 12 years ago, despite
replacing counter tops and cooker and hob about 5 years ago it really needs
a refit. But its 10'x 10', and very awkward, with 2 internal doors and an
external door taking up most of the wall space. Thinking of blocking up a
door, to enable more cupboards and counter space.
I need a lottery win!

Im glad to see Im not the ONLY one who wants something virtually useless
to me!
I saw an info-mercial the other day about the "MULTI-MASTER". a tool
that saws, scrapes, sands....You can even saw the bottom off a door
without taking the door off the hinges!!!!! You can cut drywall, trim or
two by fours!

For a MERE 200 bucks I can GET one!

The fact that I have nothing to cut, sand or scrape is IRRELEVANT!!! I
WANT IT!

I mean...IF I had it, maybe I WOULD find something to use it for!

F'rinstance...I have a "mud room" off my garage that has cheap stick-on
tiles....and Id LIKE to put in a nice hardwood OR Pergo floor...and IF I
had a Multi-Master....why, I could CUT those floor boards, zip zap,
just like the TV guy......install them in MINUTES (yeah, right) and just
slice off the bottom half inch of the door to make room for the floor
under it.....

and for JUST the price of the Pergo! well, plus the 200 bucks for the
Multi-Master....

Really...I dont know if I can survive another day without one.

The double dishwasher thing is becoming popular in Europe because it's
cheaper than kitchen cabinets to store the dishes in (which folks there
have typically moved from house to house). But hey, they have "free"
marginal health case so they must have a higher standard of living...

Easy - a 2-cup stainless steel measuring cup to match the rest of my

My "If I Win the Lottery" fantacy would be enlarging my kitchen and
bathrooms....getting those fancy standing basin type
sinks....re-modeling the kitchen with state-of-the-art appliances....

then use the rest to buy a 100 acre plot of land and build an incredible
animal santuary for dogs, cats, horses, sheep, whatever....and hire LOTS
of people who's only skill would need to be their LOVE of animals....to
live on the premises and take care of the animals. Id hire at least two
full time Veterinarians and have many volunteers who would want to come
and spend time taking care of them, too, or just playing with them.
Every kennal would hold four compatible dogs or cats, and each dog would
have his own easy chair or couch plus a nice thick carpet.

All animals would be welcome and we'd have a plane or helicoptor to go
and pick up any pet in danger of being killed just because nobody wanted
him.

Indulge yourself. The mixer/baking is one of those chicken/egg deals
- if you had a nice stand mixer that you've always wanted, you would
bake more. As in bread, maybe - the dough hook is a wonderful thing.

My Coozinart works fine, makes good coffee, my complaint is about ease
of use. It doesn't have a water level gauge that's easily visible, I
have to look down inside the small opening where the water is poured
(in the back, so it needs to be pulled way to the edge of the counter
to fill), and unless you're over 6' 6" you need to stand on a stool in
order to see down inside to see the graduations when the unit is on a
normal height countertop. And the coffee basket doesn't swing out,
it's a plastic cone insert that can be removed but won't stand on
it's own, I place it in a 2 cup pyrex measure in order to pour in the
grounds... if the grounds are poured while the cone is in the unit
they go all over and down ito the water tank. The plastic cone is
also very difficlt to remove, especially with hot grounds, it sits
flush with only a teensy thin plastic finger loop for yanking it out,
already the loop on the original snapped off, they did send a new one,
but still, it's a really doumb design. In fact if they tried to
design a more difficult to use coffeemaker they couldn't... it's
probably not a good idea to order a coffeemaker off the net.

> What coffee makers are you looking at for replacement?

I looked at more costly units (KitchenAid Pro, Bunn) but my last
coffeemaker was a Krups and I loved its ease of use, made great
coffee, and it lasted 15 years. So I'm thinking of this one:

If money were no object, then I'd want a housekeeper in my kitchen! :)
But, I have to win that lottery firsts.

OH, thanks for that. What a blast from the past. Hilarious.
I love how gramma wasn't home because she was working
the swing shift at Lockheed.

twenty bucks.

goddamn it, i want a honking big powerful gas stovetop so i can go back to
a round-bottom wok. someone here (andy?) also had a nice stove-top
broiling unit in his, and i want that, too.

it would mean i'd have to move, but if money was no object, i could hire
movers, too.

Tracy, I have the iRobot Scooba, and I loved it, but now my floors are
wood, so I can not use it anymore. :-( I love my floors, though.

I'll second that lust. Make mine black, please!
My old Oster Kitchen Center has all the attachments (blender, food
processor, mixer, dough beater, yada yada yada) and it functions. During
one move overseas where it sat in storage for 3 years it must have been
hot in the warehouse which didn't improve the transmission band. It
slips now and squeals something fierce! I've put up with it because it
still works.

You do realize that animals are pretty good at taking care of themselves
if given the chance don't you? Perhaps your winnings would be better
spent helping humans first...

Ice makers are a MUST, IMO. I can manage to open the door to get the ice
out. I didn't need nor want one that feeds through the door, especially
after reading Consumer Reports say that a majority of problems arise
there. The ones in the door steal so much room from storage space too.

Yes, the Roomba will go under the bed, under the sofa, chairs, tables,
it goes everywhere. It will not fall down the stairs, though. It
stops, backs up and goes in a different direction.

My cat Jackson loves to sit and watch the Roomba. When it leaves the
room, he will follow it. When the Roomba goes under the bed, he will
jump on the bed, looking down and around, trying to spot it when it
comes out. The Roomba can save you a little time, but it is too much
fun watching the Roomba and the cat(s).

If you had a big enough house and the necessary money you could consider
a continuous dish washer as used in some restaurants.

They're not much more expensive than fridges without them, that's for sure.
They all have the "crushed" option now too, pretty neat.
