Default Tipping the "Obamanomics" Way...

Something interesting I thought I'd share...

This weekend I took a friend out for a birthday dinner. Went to a little
Pan - Asian place down the block, a place I'd never patronised but it was
the choice of the Birthday Gal...

A pleasant meal in a nice space, dinner with a coupla drinks ran about
$60.00...

The service was very pleasant and enthusiastic, provided by a cute young
guy. When informed that this was a birthday "event" he treated us to
dessert...

I noticed that he was wearing a big "Gays for Obama" button (with the
requisite ghastly rainbow logo...if gays have such supposedly good taste why
do they *still* insist on donning that dreary 70's _Free To Be You And Me_
rainbow logo relic...???}. I said to him, "Did you vote yet?". "Oh yeah, I
can't wait 'til he's president, we gotta get this country going again"...

So I gave him a big smile and said, "Well, since you are a big fan of Obama
and his policies I know you won't mind if I don't tip you. The $20.00 I'd
normally leave you I'm going to 'donate' to the first homeless person I see.
I know that Obama is big on the 're-distributing the wealth' thing..."...

He gave me what can be described as a "look". I got up to leave and gave
him a huge smile, saying, "I wish you luck on election day"...once we left I
could see him through the window, commiserating with the other waitstaff and
pointing at me...he was not "smiling", shall we say.

A few minutes later I espied a homeless guy selling copies of the local
Chicago homeless "newspaper" _Streetwise_...he too was wearing a big Obama
button. I gave him a twenty, saying, "Keep it, man, Obama told me to give
this to you", to which he replied, "Hey, thanks, man! Thanks, thanks a
LOT...!!!"...and we both gave each other a big "thumbs up". I felt real,
*real* good that I had done my duty as a good citizen...I knew that the
"Karma God" was surely beaming down very kindly at me this evening..

Anyways, I think this was a pretty good demonstration of "Obamanomics" in
action...I'm a big believer in "putting one's money where one's mouth is"
and all that jazz...

Oh, and be sure to VOTE on Election Day, or if you have early voting in your
state you can vote right now...

:-)
