Default Candy Corn

I bought a bag of candy corn, yesterday. I haven't had any of that in
years.

It's a fun treat. But can anyone identify the flavor, other than "sweet"?
*Is* there any other flavor? I can't pick up on one.

Nostalgia: When I was growing up in the Midwest, every summer we were
visited by The Old Corn Lady. She was very old, very thin, and somewhat
bent by age. She and her husband had a farm somewhere near our small
town. When the sweet corn was ready, she would load up her Ford Model T
pickup and haul some into town, and go door to door selling it out of a
big bag. Back door to back door, at least in our neighborhood of
1910-or-so houses next to one of the breakfast cereal factories that
put Battle Creek, Michigan, on the map. She always wore an apron, and
always had candy corn in a pocket or two to give us kids. [Blinky hat-tip
