Saturday Night Wino!

7th Annual Philadelphia Wine Festival
5/10/2008

http://www.phillymag.com/files/html/...8/tickets.html

What little I know about wine, this should be very educational. I'll have to
bring a tape recorder so I can remember which of 200 wines I liked.

Somebody call me a cab.

Thought about doing this but realized we had orchestra tickets for that
night. Some of my favorite wineries are on the list.

Try Michael and David's 'Incognito' viognier, the Archaval Ferrer malbec,
and any shiraz by Two Hands.

Good stuff.

Jon,

Thanks for the FYIs. I'll seek them out.

I'm a pretty bare bones wine person. I'm reminded of a funny quip, "We sell
no wine before it's time but if it's wine, it's time!" --Unknown

Oh my goodness. This brings back a fond memory. Many MANY years ago, my
ex-husband and I were visiting his parents. We came back late from some
other excursion and were both a little peckish. I said "would you make me a
sandwich [OB FOOD] please?" He replied, while waving his hands, "POOF!
You're a sandwich!".

One of his charms was definitely his sense of humour. Then again, I was
young....

Sounds lovely, but alas....at $125 a pop, $250 a couple, that's a bit too
steep for my blood....especially after having to schlep down to Radnor on
Friday. Eldest daughter was accepted at Cabrini and now it's up to the
'folks' to figure out how to pay for it........so Friday is grovel time in
financial aid........

ginny,

Good for your daughter! Congrats!!! You have to be proud!

We can't frown enough on the state of today's economy, can we?!

I'll toast to you both (not funny, I know.). My $125 won't cover buying her
first semester's books probably. Where's the 4-year college education on
DVD for $75???

Best,

Andy

Don't forget the mythical line that allegedly got him temporarily banned from tv:

groucho: (after contestant won some money) If you dig around in my pants
pocket you'll find your money.
contestant: (hand in pocket) I feel silly.
groucho: Dig a little deeper and you'll feel nuts.

.....or something to that effect. Not sure if this story is true, but you
want to believe it.

I'll give you 10-20 and you won't even have to drink an entire tasting
glass. I'm a real wine drinker, but I can't winery hop and last the
entire day. I've tried to do it in the serious sense of getting to
know local wines and decide what to buy or wine club to join.... but
oh, man. It's a good thing hubby indulges me and just drives. I
literally swirl and spit most of it, but I still get tipsy and need a
nap before dinner.

Men get drunk. Women get tipsy.
Men sleep it off. Women nap.
I could go on with this.
What's the deal?

I'm the driver! That's a real biggie.

Believe it or not.... not much alcohol makes it into my system and I'm
shocked at what such a little bit over such a long time does to me.

Most guys just wouldn't use the word "tipsy". They'd say "I had one too
many". Or some such.

All I know is that I've been merely tipsy, and I've been drunk. Tipsy's
better. Still can't drive though!

So, how was the Wine festival. Were you still standing at the end of the
evening? Find any great wines?

Jon,

I missed it. Couldn't get a cab.

Dammit!!!

Had I had sf, nancy, Jill, Maxine, Christine, TammyM, I'd've rented a limo
and drank a few bottles dropping them home.

RATS!
