This explains why pork shoulder has been available for $.89 per pound for the last couple of months. Time to stock the freezer. Janet |

For people who depend more upon convenience type foods, it's going to be more difficult. I don't eat much meat here at home anyway. I prepare what meat I do buy to go as long a way as possible. My diet tends to rely more upon grains/legumes. But if the cost of soy beans is rising, my beloved tofu will cost more too. And I started baking my own bread a while back and now the cost of wheat is rising too. <sigh> I think the biggest shock for me has been the increase in the cost of eggs. I do use quite a lot of eggs and the cost of them has doubled. Time to get a few chickens I reckon! TammyM, lives in the 'burbs where one can't keep livestock |

Remember when chickens were $.48 a pound and chicken farmers cut back on volume? Chicken went up to $.89 and stayed there. Janet |
