Wait until your daughter-units get to be 18, see if you still say that

I always wanted a daughter.

Then I had one.

There were a few rough years.

I have three-times your joy (and pain)... Those are some
dynamic emotions all three exhibit. Are there ever any
level-areas?

Well, we raised two sons also. It's different, but I'm not sure it's
easier. It mostly depends on the kid.

There were lots of level areas. Most kids go through a period of
considerable confusion around 14. The raging hormones kick in, and they
don't know if they are kids or adults (they aren't either one).

there's a story about randy newman, who had a couple sons and then a
daughter:

He is especially pleased that he now has a daughter, and repeated what
Lorne Michaels, the longtime director of ''Saturday Night Live,'' said
to him: that if he'd had the girl first, he would have thought the
boys were retarded.

Mr. Newman laughed. ''And he's right,'' he said. ''My daughter is so
much quicker, so sophisticated emotionally and able to slightly
manipulate her surroundings.''

You want a level area, stand on a pool table.

Been there, done that.
It's definitely a "Be careful what you wish for" scenario.

At 18 (and if one continues on her current course, 16!),
they're out the door and on their own!

Of course, MY daughter-units would never be placed in such
situations as Melba's Jammin' sought so it's moot.
