It's edible. I wouldn't go out of my way to get it, but honestly it's
not much different than one of the canned hams, just a formed version
made from the trimmings.

A friend of mine is a university professor who went to Thailand on
sabbatical about 10 years ago. He and his wife met a nice Thai woman on the
plane. She was married to an American soldier stationed there. She invited
them to her house for dinner and they gladly accepted, expecting a home
cooked Thai dinner. She served Spam. Her husband loved the stuff and she
thought all North Americans would.
