Well today I'm trying a recipe for coffee flavoured yogurt...I kinda made
it up as I went along. I took about 1 1/4 cups half and half added 2/3 cup of brown sugar and 1 tbsp of cornstarch to a pot and while stirring brought it to a boil to make a thickened kinda sauce. Off the heat I added 750 ml (3 cups) of vanilla yogurt 2 1/2 tsp expresso powder and 1/4 cup of corn syrup and stirred it together well...It's churning as I post. Warm it tasted pretty good. It's a modified recipe kinda following along in the template of the raspberry frozen yogurt recipe I posted earlier. I used half and half to get smaller ice crystals than those that occur with whole milk. I used brown sugar for the hell of it usually it's 2/3 cup white sugar. I decided on 2 1/2 tsps of expresso powder because that's what tasted ok to me. I really like vanilla yogurt so that's my preferred yogurt to use for making dessert stuff. I kinda had to do this cause today is my office's pot luck and because I'm on evenings I'll miss it and be depressed. So instead for supper tonight at work I'll have smoked chicken drumsticks with either a dill honey sauce or bbq sauce or maybe both and frozen coffee yogurt for dessert and not be as depressed. -- The house of the burning beet-Alan It'll be a sunny day in August, when the Moon will shine that night- Elbonian Folklore |
