I did not read nor post to the list all day Saturday or Sunday because I actually had a busy weekend. I tuned in about 5 hours ago to the tune of 850 messages. The Kay > Hartman, Rich Tester, Leila, Renee Mueller folks? One thing that I've noticed is that a number of groups that used to have great contributors have become mere shells of their old selves. Two glaring examples are rec.travel.air and alt.radio.talk.dr-laura. Both went from being invigorating places with knowledgeable posters to mere "troll traps". Both are absolutely worthless for discussing (respectively) air travel and socio - political issues... I was lucky enough to join rfc back in the "golden age" of rfc posting. Susan Hattie was a regular poster then, as well as Anne Bourget, Joel Erhlich, Andy P, Miimi Hiller, and a gazillion other incredible posters that I wish were still posting here. Kay Hartman came a year or two later, and at that time the caliber of posting was extremely high, with very little off topic chatter. I remember one incident when off topic chatter was such an unusual thing, when Ninette Enrique announced her pregancy here, that it caused a minor uproar here that someone wasn't talking about food. This is how unusual it was for that type of thing, at that time. And not only that, but the food discussion was often extremely enlightening. I learned so much from rfc in those days, about cooking, wine, dining, etc. It is a shame that many of these folks left because of the way that rfc was becoming. We lost some great cooks, writers and teachers about food, and some just great folks. Christine |

I have a small pit BBQ out front, I just don't use it often. :-) I know I still have a small stash of Mesquite charcoal and wood chunks.
