Default Food sources of L-Carnitine and Folate

I take acetyl L carnitine because it's supposed to help prevent
Alzheimer's.

I take it too as part of Dr. Sinatra's plan for heart health. Also involves fish oil and cal/mag supplements..D-ribose etc. I dont think you can get an adequate amount from food. Its an amino acid produced in your liver. Just take the pills..lol. Hey we are sorta health food nuts and got a hot tip for you from the head nut. She says get some XXX Virgin Coconut oil and take 2 Tablespoons per day one in the morn and one in the PM. Supposed to have shown remarkable results in helping with preventing the big A..among a bunch of other good stuff. To get more than that dont hurt a bit either. We use the regular version as a person might use Crisco back in the good old days. Its solid at room temp which has some advantages for baking and such things. Dont cook with the high dollar stuff or it will make your house smell like a coconut factory. You can eat it like butter.

I take it but I've never seen that claim about it.

It is wrote right on the label of ours saying.."to help with cognitive functions" or something very similar. I did not know about that either. Know it was on the heart health lecture. Sounds like it might kill two birds with one stone..or least stunt em a bit. I hear more odd good stuff about Turmeric/Curcumin each day. Seems to cure what ails a person no matter what it happens to be. Hope all are getting a mega dose of that stuff.

Some of that might be age related..lol. Back in the good old days it was generally assumed all the old geezers would start acting nutty about time the Social Security checks started coming. We did not know about the Alzheimers stuff but they must have all had it. As my big brudder say one time.."All our kin die young while and not remembering their own names." Got to be some bad old hereditary genes floating around huh?

Ya? So?

You get to wake up every morning and meet new people, eat
new food, watch new movies ... Not to mention some
pretty sweet thing that seems to really like you.

They certainly did not all have Altzheimers in the olfd days. I can
remember my grandparents whose heads were fine until the end, even after
my Grandfather's stroke. Much of early confusion, etc came with havign
nothing to do after retirement for some , particularly men, some form
hearing and vision loss which cna make you seem stupid as you don't hear
what is being said so make kind of crazy replies.

Hi W.,

Take your grand kids fishing! Best therapy ever created!

Or, you can send jokes all day to all your friends until
you have no friends. (I have a customer in his 80's
who sends me about 4 jokes a day. I just delete them.
But, I am glad to get them as they tell me he hasn't
die on us!)

It does run in my family but not everyone has it. Both grandmas did. They
died in their 80's. Both grandpas died fairly early. One when I was 8 and
the other when my dad was 8. But I had great uncles and aunts who lived
anywhere from 80 to about 100 and my great grandparents on my dad's side
lived to a great age. Great grandpa died on his 100th birthday. Not sure
how old my great grandma was when she died but it was about a year after he
did. They said that she died of a broken heart. He died due to stupidity.
But was it caused by senility? Dunno. He was smoking a cigarette while
doing something or other with gasoline and lit himself on fire. The burns
were very bad and it was an infection in the burns that caused his death.
However, I have seen plenty of young men do the same stupid thing.
