Default RECIPE: you have to see this one

My mom used to put those "steenken" marshmallows on all those casseroles
like that. I think that's why I hate sweet potatoes now.

Mine did too. My dad wanted that stuff. He was the only one who ate it.

As an adult, my SIL told her mom that I was a vegetarian when she invited me
to dinner. She put out sooo much stuff for me, I couldn't believe it.
There were sweet potatoes in chunks. To be polite, I took a small one. I
actually liked it! I asked her how she made it? She showed me the can.
Said she just opened it and heated it.

When we got home, I bought some of the same brand and tried them. Didn't
like them. Have tried the ones from the produce department. Didn't like
them.

Angela thought she liked them because she likes them as fries. Wendy's now
offers a sweet potato on their menu. It comes with a butter/brown sugar mix
but I asked for that to be left off and plain butter instead. It wasn't
real butter. Some kind of margarine or blend. Angela didn't like it. Said
it was too sweet.

I don't really mind them so much as fries. I would never buy them for
myself or order them in a restaurant but I can eat one and not spit it out.

I never understood why anyone thinks marshmallows belong on sweet potatoes
or squash.

Might have been one of those long ago moments where mummy tries to
disguise a veggie by adding a sweet...

I had some wonderful berry flavoured ones that my daughter sent in a
gift basket for mother's day.

I was watching an episode of Chopped the other day. It was a rerun. It's a
cooking competition where they are given odd ingredients and have a limited
amount of time to come up with a dish. They do an entree, then one person
is eliminated. Then a main dish and someone is eliminated. Then a dessert
and then the winner is picked.

One of the entree ingredients (I think it was the entree) was rutabaga.
They all tried to cook it and failed because they didn't have enough time.

I was amazed that nobody just made a salad with it because we almost always
ate them raw. My mom did once cook and mash them much to my dismay. I
wouldn't listen to her when she told me they were not potatoes and I took a
ton. Ppppyuck!

So I did a search of rutabaga salads and almost all of them called for
marshmallows. I was like... Uh... Yuck!

There's another salad that used to be popular here at potlucks but I haven't
seen it around in a while, thankfully. I think it was canned fruit with
coconut and marshmallows. May have had whipped cream in it too.

I got a nail file! That is actually what I wanted. Heh.

I can't stand the aroma of marshmallows. I do not like sweet smells.

I got a whole basket full of food, lol.

One son bought a dinner set as we are always breaking stuff here.
Another son bought me a nice mug and a key ring but his girlfriend
nudged him while he was holding it and it dropped and got broken. The
girl's mother went out and got another but it meant I got it two days
late He also brought home Maccas hotcakes for breakfast as he did an
overnight shift. Bad thing was I had been sick through the night and I
didn't really want it. I forgot to send money to school for Jazz to buy
me presents, lol. Usually I forget to check her bag on days like that
and more often than not she buys me something that's food and eats it
all herself.
