I went to see "Order of the Phoenix" last night and ate a big bucket
of popcorn by myself (my companion was supposed to share, but he
wasn't hungry). Came home and my blood glucose was 168. I felt like
crap. Made me re-think the whole movie going experience.

I have been reading the hypo/diabetic thread with interest, as I was
told to eat 45 grams (3 carb servings) per meal.

I'm going nuts...my family are all starchaholics, although m is
quitting sugar cold turkey on Aug 1 (which means she's going to be a
PITA to live with and she is going to be seriously holier-than-thou)
and I am going to be cranky.

I came in here to confess, because I have been seriously backslid
since the beginning of the month. TC and I went to Kansas City to the
Heinlein Centennial Celebration and I didn't check my sugar or pay
much attention to food choices there. While we were there we
discovered my mother-in-law has cancer (she called at
midnight...scared the crap out of me). I am too busy and too stressed
to exercise, especially since there's always something to do that
interferes.

How do you all cope with work and family and stress?

hugs,

kitten

By being aware of whose grave you are digging if you give in all the time.
Stress will cause your bgs to go up itself without a whole box of popcorn.
Learn that one can watch a movie and not eat! Not esy, but doable. Keep
on testing and reading here as just doing that will make you more mindful
of what has to be done and wil keep you on the straight and narrow. I
know it does for me.

What's sugar got to do with it? Quit excessive carbs; sugar
is just a small part of the overall problem.

Say three "sorry pancreas" and perform four BG tests
tomorrow. Each of them one hour after eating.

Same as everyone else; grief, love and acceptance. And then
get on with life as best we can.

Let me put it this way...

Copping out because this thing or that thing pops up in life is a sure
way to kill yourself.

LEARN TO SAY NO.

Eat sensibly and each time you lift your fork, THINK about what the food
will do to you.

It is SIMPLE.

Do you have a recipe for that?
