Since Mizoni was almost impossible to find when Mom wrote the recipe, she used Napa. I do see Mizoni in Asian food markets sometimes. When your daughter-in-law comes to the US, the thing she will miss most is Japanese rice. There is no rice available in the US that is near as good as Japanese rice. Mom's relatives in Japan would send her bags of rice several times a year. There are some better brands of US rice that are good, I usually buy Nishiki. Ozoni New Year soup
Mochi is another of my favorites. The ice cream is great too.
We made a Buddha's Feast that was so very good. Supposed to be without meats but we added large prawns (not pond raised) and scallops. Great. I found some great Soba noodles and will having that tomorrow with shredded Daikon and tofu plus the dipping sauce. |

I like the tofu cubed with Bonito Flakes, chopped green onion and a grated ginger/shoyu sauce. That takes me back to the years I lived alone, I had tofu almost every day. Now I have American food most of the time. Andrea2 |
