Default European style kitchen cabinets

Anyone had your local cabinet maker try one of these? I like the look, but
hate the pretension and price. Also, I don't like being forced into
Euro-sizes for cooking equipment.

Separately, what does everyone think about a range hood that is not as wide
as the cooking surface? I'm thinking about a 30 or 36" induction top, and
possibly adding a gas 12", two burner unit. I'm convined on induction, but
don't mind having a gas unit there for charring peppers, and perhaps using
for a grill plate.
