Two Vent Hoods off one external blower?
Hello
I am remodeling my kitchen and am going to have a DCS wok at one counter, and a 48" DCS range in an island. Obviously I will need two hoods, but I want to try to duct them together to a single external blower. I will also install bypass damper(s) so I can focus the CFM to the wok or the range on the island. Has anyone tried this? All the appliance stores give me a strange look when I pitch the idea. Also, I need to figure out how big the external blower should be. The run will have one elbow, and about a 10 foot run to the exterior wall where the blower will be..thinking of 10" ducting as well. Any feedback is appreciated. Randall |

I do not believe it's wise to have an elbow - but more a series of greater angles. Either you'd have to locate the remote blower equidistant from both applicances, or allow one to have significantly less help from the hood. Your total BTU output might help you decide which appliance will see better hood performance. You will need a strong external blower, though, as it's not the ideal situation, so you'll have to throw HP at it! :-) Janni Janni |

You would probably get a better installation too. Roland |
