I think it's very hard to beat the 22" Weber, especially the Weber Performer
with the gas lighter that I have used for years. It, at $399, is pretty pricey. It will roast a 12-14lb turkey and a 3 rib standing rib roast with ease, in addition to searing a steak properly. The previoius poster says go to alt.food. barbecue. I would advise against that. There is a strong bias in that NG toward smoking, or low temp. roasting. That's a small fraction of what most people do.
