Default ILVE cooktop burner rings cleaning problem

A few weeks ago we bought an ILVE H60CVX cooktop.

The aluminium rings that surround the burners seem to be impossible to
clean.

We have tried with dishwashing liquid and a degreaser, as per the
instructions, neither of which worked.

Is this a common problem with the ILVE units?

Should we be using a different cleaning agent?

Have other people had similar experiences?

That cooktop doesn't even show up in a Google Search. Aluminum is a bitch
to clean because you can't use most chemicals on it. I would suggest that
you try an aluminum cleaner like Aluminum Jelly.

If you can't find a commercial aluminum cleaner, you might try this:

Thanks, Vox

The cooktop is the first one on
http://www.ilve.com.au/pdf/built-in/...p/H-series.pdf

One of the features they list is "Easy clean removable burners and support"
which seems to be a ridiculous claim in light of the aluminium rings being
so difficult to clean.

If ILVE don't come up with a better remedy (I'll contact them as soon as
they open after the holidays) then I may be forced to have the rings chrome
plated rather than have to constantly mess around with special cleaners just
for the rings.

It's a mystery to me why manufactures make things that can't be easily
maintained. I have a gas cooktop with white, porcelain drip pans and white
painted metal burners. The thing looks good about four times a year when I
clean it all down with oven cleaner. The painted parts never really look
like new.
