Default HELP How do I re-use "US" pots & pans on French stove?

We moved to Paris about two 2 yrs back. Everything was vy rushed.
We bought a stove that only uses pans with a special coating, meaning
all our stuff has been sitting in boxes in the basement (la cave) since
we arrived. I like those pans and am trying to learn if there
is some conversion technique or something I can do to rescue
my pans and pots from the cold, dank, 'cave'???

Thanks
David

Same thing occurred to me. Otherwise, I have no idea what David
is alluding to. I hope this gets clarified.

As several others have replied, it sounds as though you have an induction stove top. Your aluminum pans will not work on an induction stove which requires that the cookware have a magnetic component. There are some accessory manufacturers who make a magnetic plate that can be placed on an induction unit to allow it to heat aluminum cookware, but your cooking results will be different than if you were to use a pan designed to be used on induction stove tops. Another danger is removing the aluminum pan and forgetting to turn the heat off! The magnetic plate will continue to heat and will damage your stove top!
