Default The DR Pepper Difference

I've got a brisket on deck and I'm going to use a
prep tip on it that TFM posted here a ways back.
Years ago.

Cut a slice in the vac pack and dump in a can of
Dr Pepper (a funnel comes in handy here). Duct tape
it back up, wait a day, then cook.

I'm not a big fan of marinades, and I'm skeptical
of these types of tricks in general, but I swear
it makes a difference. Gives it a certain je ne
sais pas.

If I were drinking it, that would have been
the way to go.

That suggestion was from the late Billy "Belly" Maynard of Glenn Rose,
Texas.

That's it!!! Belly.

Thank you Big Jim. History is important.

I will hoist one in Belly's honor tonight to go along with the
smoked beast.

I had just hit send on that when the phone rang. It was Fats®. I told him
about the Dr Pepper and he said that was Belly's idea.<g>
He probably just passed it along.
Anyway he was scorching some dead pig parts and wanted to ask about some
pepper plants I had given him.

Who's Fats? The name rings a bell, but I just can't place it.
Wasn't he the silent partner of Beavis and Butthead?

Maybe that inside joke was wasted on those of you who don't read
AFF-F :-) It's not a derogatory remark. TFM will know what it
means.

Ummmm, yeah, they both contain water as well.

Devastating logic there, Einstein.

Hey, don't knock it. My doctor is feeding me rat poison (Warfarin) to
keep me alive. Go figure.

It's all a matter of dosage. Consumption of iron is ok, as long as you don't
try to swallow an anvil.

Speaking of which, why have anvils in kids cartoons gone out of
style?

How authentic is the guy that ate a whole 10-Speed bike, piece by
piece?

Cyanide Sulfate gives you a great buzz as well. In moderation.

ObBBQ: I haven't smoked anything since before Memorial Day. But I
did take about 20 pictures of smokers at Big 5 tonight.
