Shared heritage
SEOUL - The Korean Peninsula has had an on-off infatuation with things Chinese for 1,000 years. Recent reports that Seoul was considering applying to put its Dragon Boat Festival on Unesco's cultural heritage list as its homegrown festival had created an uproar among the Chinese, the Yonhap news agency reported. The fifth day of the fifth lunar month, which Koreans call Dano and Chinese call duanwu jie, is believed to have spread to the Korean Peninsula 1,000 years ago. ******************* I've had Korean rice stuck together treats but I don't think I bought one with leaf wrapped in it. Though I might have seen something like it ... like savory Japanese rice squares? Are there Korean versions of this Chinese leaf wrapped rice thing? Anyone? Delicious? |
