Lucky you. In the US, we will have to wait until February 12, 2007,
though it will be only $19.77 on Amz. I guess all the measurements have
to be converted.

So many cookbooks now have both measures in them. It's so
hard to wait. :-( If I weren't broke, I probably order the
one from the UK now and then do conversions--or just use
different measuring devices.

No, sorry, I am the Ian who has been in the US for a very long time, but
started out in Ireland. Its usually unique enough as 'Ian', but not
always, I guess. I always use the not cox net email addy, even though I
do not use any cox email.

Cheers,

Ian (in VA.)

I know what you mean. All it'd need is a friend to bring some European
measuring cups over..... On the other hand, February is a baaaaad month
in Virginia, so now it won't be quite so bad.

here's the North American version:
http://www.amazon.com/Revolutionary-...589619?ie=UTF8
i should think they convert all measurements for you
people

i'm curious about the NA version of her other
fantastic book Sichuan Cookery [UK
edition:http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sichuan-Cook...dp/0140295410]
, but i think it's exactly the same as the UK
version save for the converted measurements, cover
and size. i haven't seen the NA one in person so i
can't really compare. someone knows about this? if
it's exactly the same inside then there's no point
for me to get Land of Plenty.

Land of Plenty

I believe it is exactly the same, other than the measurements.
Bizarrely, amazon.com was suggesting you buy the both of them together
for a discount.

Ahh, I just checked. On the title page it says "First published in Great
Britain [..] as Sichuan Cookery". So its a duplicate. The re-titling was
dumb, imho, as the original title fully communicates what the book is
about, while "Land of Plenty" tells you zero.

Cheers,

Ian (VA.)
