It's also fun to have one handy (especially a laptop) if you like to
chat on IRC while cooking. I often had my laptop in the kitchen on a
counter for just this purpose. Especially when we have cook-alongs.

Plus, I don't think IRC uses too many computer resources..so your
Thinkpad might also be good for chatting in the channel.
