Gloria, A Dackel is a Dachshund, it's what it is called in German.
A Dackerl is a small Dachshund or just a loving way to call one of any
age or size. It's what we called them in Vienna and which is probably
still that way. Sorry if you thought I knew of a special breed of dog.

My cousin had a female Dackerl. She got loose one day when she was
being walked and came back after having mated with a large dog. She
died trying to give birth to a litter of puppies that were too large
for such a small dog. C sections for dogs did not exist at that time
and neither did abortions. I remember the dog, but I cannot recall
her name.
