Default Onion soup mix

That's how it started. I want to make quickie beef
stroganoff for dinner tonight (sorry, Dimitri, I'm not
up for the real thing today). The recipe calls for
onion soup mix, you know, the Lipton's stuff. I
really don't want to get that, but I didn't want to get
too many ingredients at the store, either, to replicate
it.

So, I googled groups for onion soup mix. First recipe
I looked at was on a retired military newsgroup, that
amused me, I thought, how many arguments do they
have over there about SOS. Just kidding, I bet there
are lots of great recipes there.

Now, if they had the recipe for sauerbraten that the
exMarine chef served in the cafeteria, I'd kill for that.
I digress.

So, next one I looked at, funnily enough I started seeing
all kinds of familiar names ... Sheryl, Jill, ha, Sheldon and
.... nancy! among a bunch others. I laughed out loud. Of
course the newsgroup was rfc, I wasn't really looking for
just rfc.

Not too many ingredients at all! Shoot, I have everything,
cool.

One of the things was beef bouillion, well, I don't have that,
but I do have RediBase beef base. Not the lower salt, but
what are you gonna do. Reminds me, order more.

http://www.redibase.com I'll be darned, the mailing address
is maybe 10 miles from me. I got chicken & beef supreme
bases, plus no salt taco mix for a joke. I had fun looking
through all the restaurant shortcut stuff they had available.
All kinds of stuff in mass quantities. Next time I need to
make 7 gallons of beef gravy, I know where to look.

And yes, ha, I do remember you told me about that website.
