Bull moose are very dangerous in rutting season. Cows are very dangerous
when they have a calf at their side. Staying away from moose in the wild
is prudent. That said, I've been in a disparate group of people at the
side of the road watching a sub-adult male eating in a swamp at a
distance of 20 feet.
