Default Adios for a while.

Gonna be gone trying to get some of my own meat for que. Headed up to
the remote woods around Patten, Maine on tomorrow for a week to chase
whitetail and black bear. Hopefully it won't be the other way around. ;-)

I've never qued venison or bear but I'm willing to give it a try.
Hopefully I'll have the chance. If I do I'll let ya know how it turns out.

Catcha in about a week and a half.

What on earth would make you want to eat a bear?

Don't get treed by a moose, either! My uncle was up a blue spruce for over
three hours, back in the late 40's, waitin' for one to finally lose
interest and wander off.

My BIL & SIL were hiking in moose country a couple of yrs. ago. A few days

I'm in no way opposed to hunting. But I just can't see how to warrant killing a
bear.

When bears and humans get too close together, whether it is humans
moving into bear habitat or overpopulation pushing bears into human
habitat, it seldom bodes well for the bears. They can be very
destructive. My father has lost a few beehives and bird feeders to the
relatively small black bears in NH.

Bull moose are very dangerous in rutting season. Cows are very dangerous
when they have a calf at their side. Staying away from moose in the wild
is prudent. That said, I've been in a disparate group of people at the
side of the road watching a sub-adult male eating in a swamp at a
distance of 20 feet.

It was a cow with a calf. They were walking on a hiking trail minding there own
business when the came around a curve and there they were.

She attacked them. The girl got away but the guy was trounced to death.
