precisely, although "PDX" is often used in casual conversation as a
reference to the city

Merely memorializing the recent pummeling which usenetlyn took
when she (I think - excuse me if I'm wrong) started a thread asking
about restaurant suggestions in "PDX" as opposed to saying Portland,
OR. Of the 30 or so posts I saw, about 3 or 4 actually had restaurant
suggestions, and the rest (some quite vitriolic, others more tongue- in-cheek)
condemned her use of "PDX", instead of more clearly identifying the locale. You
might liken it to an armband worn as a
show of sympathy for her plight.
