That's not a problem, virgins are kept in reserve just for this purpose in a
special hut in a secret location on the big island. The girl has to be
clothed in a special heat resistant suit made of banana leaves and thick

virgins will burst into flames before reaching the jumping off point. Then
we have to send up another virgin. Having "the girl in front of you burst
into flames" is an old Hawaiian saying meaning you are having a run of bad
luck.

It's some fairly nasty business but it's the only thing that has been proven
to be 100% effective. As usual, Hollywood gets it wrong.
