This story has been kicked around forever. According to Julia:

.....it was never made with anchovies. Anchovies are a key ingredient
in Worcestershire sauce, so that's where the myth of their inclusion
comes from. Now that Cardini's makes the salad WITH anchovies only
supports the classic line from the movie, The Man Who Shot Liberty
