Our youngest cat Suki is more tolerant of Maya the dog, a miniature
poodle, than the other two who simply ignore her. Suki and Maya
spend time together on my bed, occasionally sniff each other and
will make tentative overtures towards mutual grooming.
One thing Suki learned from Maya is how to put your paw out gently
to request attention; before that, she would try to roughhouse. So
she watched Maya, saw that Maya got attention doing that and copied
the gesture with expected results. Now she uses it all the time
instead of attacking to get attention.
