In District 9, maybe.

I am encouraged by a shift away from the 24 episode, 7-year runs
that characterized three of the Star Trek franchises and the
Stargates.

Currently, many series have anywhere from 10 to 13 episodes in a
season, and if they're from the UK, often shorter, and only two
seasons and a Christmas special. The British original series of
the Office and Extras were only twelve episodes and a Christmas
special at the end. If you can't say everything you need to say in
a reasonable amount of time, don't bother showing up.

Shorter seasons means that more people get work as there are more
projects ongoing. In Gullyvornia, a series has to be cancelled for
another to start up. In the other model, two series, sometimes
three, can co-exist and thrive using the same time slot.
