the dh was at the store yesterday, he found smoked hapork shanks on offer so
he got a package... then he looked around for something to have with them,
in the store he was in they had lots of beans, dry and canned, he settled on
a 15 bean dry package with a flavor package you put in at the end... we got
one we will both love, it does NOT have black eyed peas, and it is not cajun
spiced which is usually the only flavor of this we see... he is not a hot
spicy eater... he read me both versions of what is on the beans as for their
instructions, and i worked out what is practicle to do, i have the shanks
braising in vegetable broth and the beans soaking... these multi kinds of
bags always shock me about how much water they soak up so i have added water
a second time... hopefully by the time the meat is ready to cool and take
off the bones the beans will be ready to go into the broth, the pork smells
heavenly...

this will make several servings of ham and beans as it is a two pound bag,
so i just checked my supply of containers and all i have to do is eat dinner
let it cool, rearrange the freezer and package, this is gonna be great as we
are getting busy with work and other obligations.
