I've used both electric and gas with stovetop grills. Mine worked quite well
with the electric, but there is one drawback. The spacing between the grill
and the finished top of your stove is a lot closer then the typical gas
setup.
The result is considerably more heat applied to the finished surface of your
stove then it was meant to receive in normal use. You won't have a problem
with normal usage assuming you keep your stovetop faily clean, but don't
leave the grill hot for long periods of time. (Like hours) The time it takes
to
grill steaks and veggies won't hurt a thing. As soon as you hit the lottery,
pitch that electric and go gas.
