Default Christmas preps

I have not got around to making shortbread yet. I am not sure which kind
to make. My wife likes the soft, melt in your mouth type like my mother
used to make. I am leaning toward a Scottish style with some crunch to
it. Yesterday I made 6 dozen mince meat tarts.

I had some delays. First of all, I had to dig up my sum pump drain line
because it was clogged. That is done. I just have to fill in the hole
and gather up some tools... which are now under a few inches of snow.

The big snag is my dog's health. The poor old guy is not well. He can
hardly walk. he keeps falling over. The vet thinks he has a vesitibular
infection which is causing motion sickness. He won't eat or drink. He
can hardly stand up. He can walk up stairs but not down. He doesn't even
object to being carried, something he always hated before. If he
doesn't eat this morning he has to go back to the vet.

My wife is really bummed out. He is the first dog we have had that has
been her dog. She talks him for a one mile walk every morning. It keeps
the two of them fit. He sticks to her like glue. She was in tears the
other day at the vet's office because she thought he was going to have
to be put down. There has been no improvement. This morning he had an
accident on the kitchen floor. Poor guy. we are going to miss him.
