I made a batch of apple wine about 6 months ago and forgot to clean out my
primary after transfer. Anyway, it has set for all that time with gross lees and a bit of liquid in it ever since. Now I'm ready to make some grape wine and am worried about cleanliness. There is a deep layer of mold that smells horrible on the bottom. I have campden tablets, but I'm afraid this won't negate the smell of funkiness coming from the plastic. Should I use bleach then campden tabs or what??? Please help!!! |

I'd soak it in bleach for an hour or so, rinse well, and then try either an enzyme deodorizer or an oxygen-based cleaner such as Oxy-Clean - or maybe both. |
