Default Wine Cellar Express

Has anyone ever heard of this gadget - Wine Cellar Express? If you have
used it, I'd like to hear your comments. It claims to age your wine
several years in 15 - 30 minutes.

To me it sounds too good to be true but on the other hand if it works, it
would be the answer to trying to let my wine sit long enough to properly
age. I usually only have a few bottles left when they get good. I've been
trying to make lots to get ahead of the game but I only seem to be drinking
and giving away more! (Hehe)

Apparently, if you know the wine has sat on a Wine Coaster Express
before you taste it, you'll think it tastes better. If you do a 'double
blind' tasting experiment, however, you can't tell the difference.

In other words, it works if you think it works. I believe the official
term is "placebo". Or maybe "snake oil".

To answer my own question I found this info. Any thoughts?

This is the company website:
http://www.winecellarexpress.com/

I checked out a few of those quoted in their testimonials and they seem to
be bonafide wine tasters & columnists.

Any thoughts?

Frances

Mind you, I've never seen one of these devices but it doesn't sound
logical to me. If I were able to put the same amount of iron filings
in the same amount of liquid and if these filings had the same
viscosity as tannins I doubt seriously if I could pull any significant
amount of them out in 30 minutes with a magnetic coaster, and they are
easily attracted. Sounds like "snake oil" to me too.

This Wine Cellar Express 'wine aging coaster' is a great example of the
power of suggestion effect on the mind. I agree with Washu. Tannins
soften by polymerization. The magnetic field of this device soften
tannins in 30 minutes?... I doubt any statistically significant basis.

P.S. I'll sell y'all a perpetual motion machine LOL
