Default acid test kit

Hi.
I was working on a wine,
using the acid test kit.
I'm not sure if I have the complete hang of it yet.

When you're looking for a colour change,
are you looking for a colour change in the entire sample?
Or...
Just on that top 1/2 inch or so layer in the vial?

Sometimes it has seemed that a lot of my samples were way up into the .9
range, I almost always seem to use my entire syringe full of neutralizer,
but at the same time I'm trying to agitate or stir the sample and try to get
the entire sample to change.

Please let me know of your experiences or what has worked for you
and what is the proper procedure so I have an accurate idea.
I have the standard kit, not the newer one.

Thanks.
Rick

If you have color on top and not on bottom, it is not mixed adequately. You
just have to mix it better so the color (or lack of) is uniform. Keep
swirling- Its all in the wrist. I do know what you mean as I am sometimes
tempted to stir it with a stick or twig or whatever is around....

I use a 10 oz. glass tumbler to do my mixing in. It lets me swirl
vigorously without spilling any. If the color change is just on the top
keep swirling. It will either go away or change in the whole sample. When
the whole sample changes you have your acid level.
