Would oak chips in strawberry wine make a positive addition to it?

I have never had a strawberry wine that was oaked. There is probably a
reason. Strawberry is a delicate fruit and you usually want the taste of
the strawberries to dominate. Also strawberry wine is not usually aged very
long. It is noted for going down hill in a year or two while you usually
want oak wines to age for quite a while.

But then, hell, what to I know. If you have several gallons, try oaking a
gallon and see how you like it. You are crafting wine for yourself after
all, not me.

I wouldn't think so - and I _like_ oak in most of my wines.

The best batch of strawberry wine I ever tasted was one my sister made. As
I recall, she added banana to it, and I'm positive she used honey for a lot
of the sugar. I suppose that (honey) makes it a melomel, technically.
