Default Type of Sugar

I have a newbie question...Coming from a beer brewing background I have
always used corn sugar (or honey, etc) but not table sugar. I've now
succesfully made wine kits (which required no added sugar) and am looking to
make some different fruit wines in my 1 gallon demijohns. Is table sugar
from the supermarket what all the recipes that just say "sugar" are calling
for. Should I be looking for anything special when I buy it or does store
brand plain sugar behave exactly the same way. Its a very basic question I
know but sometimes my brew mind brings them up.

Cheers,
Jason

Table sugar it is! It should work just fine. You can also use honey as the
fermentable to make meads and melomels.

Jason,
Common table sugar is what usually is added to wines unless
stylistically you are looking to alter the flavor. HTH
