LOL !!! Obviously I didn't understand ANYTHING. Not unusual.
Not understanding what DE is my imagination ran away to creating a highly
efficient, inexpensive, wine filter from miscellaneous parts.

It is not unusual for me to spend twice as much to build something which
works half as well as the real thing or to buy a cheaper version of
something which I soon discard to buy the product I should have purchased in
the beginning.
