got my Winemaking kit this weekend, and after looking it over I am
kind of puzzled as how to sanitize some of this stuff. things like stir paddles, long brushes, and other large parts will not fit in my sink. just soak a rag in sanitizer and wipe? not the best for the brush, but i guess i can soak the bristle part and wipe the other. |

How you sanitize depends on which sanitizer you are using.
If using one of the metabisulfites, put some in a spray bottle and spray the stirring spoon, and some of the other stuff. BTW, the brushes are for cleaning, do not need to be sanitized. I use One-Step cleaner... http://www.undergrounddigital.com/cleanserinfo.htm I just dissolve a bit on some water and swab down my equipment before using it. I've made about 10 kits now and have never had a problem. |

I use One-Step also. It's great. I also put some in a spray bottle, so I
can spray it into things, onto things, and around things. I also make a mild solution of it in the sink and dunk my bottles in it the day prior to bottling, so they are also sanitized. In fact, we use the spray around the kitchen on cutting boards, etc. Pretty handy, DAve Bob Becker wrote: > "Tater" > wrote in message > oups.com... >> got my Winemaking kit this weekend, and after looking it over I am >> kind of puzzled as how to sanitize some of this stuff. > > I use One-Step cleaner... > http://www.undergrounddigital.com/cleanserinfo.htm > > I just dissolve a bit on some water and swab down > my equipment before using it. One-Step cleaner is a great idea - my problem is with the link.
I purchased 1000 corks from them and never got them. I disputed it with my credit card company and I got my money back (it didn't take long - there was a definite problem there). The # listed for them kept ringing and ringing. Eventually I did find out I wasn't the only one who was had. Just some first hand advice. I purchased from here with no problems: http://www.leeners.com/ On Mar 14, 6:37 am, "Bob Becker" > wrote: > "Tater" > wrote in message > > oups.com... > > > got my Winemaking kit this weekend, and after looking it over I am > > kind of puzzled as how to sanitize some of this stuff. > > I use One-Step cleaner...http://www.undergrounddigital.com/cleanserinfo.htm > > I just dissolve a bit on some water and swab down > my equipment before using it. for some of the longer, thinner items like long brushes & paddles, we went
to home despot & bought a length of pvc sewer waste pipe , solvent, & a couple of end caps. after assembly we lashed them with twist tie to lallys in the basement & filled them as necessary. it ain't pretty but it gets the job done . I use one of those trays that are made to make wall paper damp when
you put it up. All my winemaking supplies I normally use fit in there with room to spare. Alex.
