Our home refrigerator is widely known to be unsuitable for wine storage.
Unknowingly, the crisper (enclosed vegetable compartment usually at the bottom of the fridge) has all it takes for wine cellaring. At least for short term (1~5 years). Consider the following: - Temperatu 10~12º Celsius (adjustable of course). - Humidity: 60~75% (can be further raised by covering wine with a moist cloth). - Odor free due to almost airtight enclosure. - Dim environment (fridge light is generally at the top level.) and material of crisper is tinted. - Low vibration (bottles are sitting on a towel lining placed at the bottom.). Only disadvantage: maximum 6 bottles can be stored. Any comments guys? Ray |
