Default TN: Cheval Blanc 70, Montrachet-Latour 78, Niederhauser Hermannshohle Auslese 76

The Niederhauser Hermannshohle riesling auslese 1976 from the state
domain has AP Nr. 1 750 053/51/77. It is golden, fully mature and
holding well. The bouquet is now very intense and is very complex with
clean old riesling, fruits such as yellow peaches, and spice. There is
both a flint and iron-like mineral character, hinting at both the
Rheingau and the Moselle for this Nahe. There is some honey. The wine
is quite sweet, but well balanced with acidity. Very long finish. I
reported on this a year or so ago, and this bottle is a bit better than
then.

The 1978 Le Montrachet from Louis Latour is still holding well, but I
do not think it should be held too much longer. I did not detect any
oxidation. It is very concentrated and full. There is some citrus
character and a hint of white peaches. There is a bit of oak of medium
toast. This wine is more concentrated than Latour's 73, but the 73
seemed to have a bit better balance.

Cheval Blanc 1970 is still holding well and should last several years
longer. There is a trace of brick around the rim, but the color is
still very intense. There also is plenty of cassis and other dark fruit
character with a hint of herbs and spice. The tannins are now fairly
soft, and there is enough acid to balance. Finish is fairly long. Not
an 82 Cheval Blanc by any means, but still a very decent wine.
